Japanese Knotweed and other invasive species like Marestail and Himalayan Balsam are a blight on land across the UK. The treatment of these issues can be difficult, expensive and not always successful. Did you know that there is a way to manage these weeds without the need for strong - and potentially dangerous - weed killers or expensive excavation and removal? You can literally cover over the Japanese Knotweed and manage it, almost as if it were never there. A safe, cost effective and sustainable solution will be presented that is particularly applicable to Public Open Space.

The webinar will discuss a safe, sustainable method for treatment of virulent invasive weeds, like Japanese Knotweed, that is significantly more cost effective than other typical treatments and permits unhindered continued use of the affected land for a range of purposes. The solution does not inhibit groundwater flow or surface water percolation and therefore avoids the creation of waterlogged, and thereby unusable, ground which is likely to occur with impermeable solutions.

Attendees will be introduced to a safe and relatively cheap solution to a difficult problem, providing them with an option that they previously are unlikely to have considered.
