Aaron Berry is Deputy Head of the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) at the UK Department for Transport, a post he has held for the past four years. OZEV work to support the UK’s objective to transition to zero emission vehicles. Aaron leads a team that supports the roll-out of local chargepoint infrastructure for electric vehicles. Aaron studied at Keele University where he graduated with a first class degree in environmental management and business.
Toby Hiles is the Global Partnerships Director at Grid Smarter Cities, the UK kerbside management and mobility technology firm. Toby has been building & directing commercial and strategic partnerships for the last 20 years. He has shaped multi-national policies, projects, products & services, and spin-outs in the mobility, transport and global events industries.
Toby helped establish the UK’s Centre for Connected & Autonomous Vehicles, secured £150m investment for the UK’s Transport Systems Catapult, and directed City Operations planning & delivery at London 2012.
Toby is using these experiences to work with cities, governments and businesses to help them
better understand how they can work together to define and deliver the future of sustainable
urban mobility, using Grid Smarter Cities’ Kerb kerbside management platform.
Paul Hutton is one of the world’s leading journalists specialising in transport technology. A trained broadcast journalist who worked as a presenter, newsreader and sports reporter on local and national radio and TV, Paul has been in the ITS sector for nearly 25 years having run the operations of two radio traffic news companies. Paul worked on the Travel Information Highway and delivered the Traffic Radio service for government as well as providing traffic reports for the vast majority of BBC and commercial radio stations across the UK and also working in Canada, Australia and the US. During that time he introduced technology solutions such as the use of Floating Vehicle Data and app-based services. He co-owns the website Highways-News.com, provides PR and communications support for the Transport Technology Forum and a number of SMEs and regularly hosts webinars and moderates panel debates at events.
Richard is a Regional Account Manager for the Energy Saving Trust within the Local Government Support Programme, offering support & advice on EV strategy, procurement and sustainable travel. Working closely with our colleagues managing the OZEV on-street residential chargepoint scheme (ORCS) and Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure scheme (LEVI) and supporting the transition to electric vehicles.
Alec has over 15 years of experience in multimedia journalism and content creation, and is passionate about bringing together the transport and energy sectors to support the UK’s transition to electric vehicles and decarbonised transport.
In addition to chairing sessions at industry events, Alec is the founder of Transport + Energy, a media brand which covers the latest news, insights, and innovations in this emerging field.
Alec also acts as an editorial, PR, and communications consultant, providing a range of services to clients in the transport and energy industries, such as writing, sub-editing, conference production, moderating, and operational management.
I spent 40 years in local government frontline work including home to school transport, children's social care, adult social care, waste recycling, corporate projects, council plan KPI monitoring and reporting, many marketing campaigns. I now lead Energy Saving Trust's programme that helps local authorities, and other partners and stakeholders, to decarbonise travel and transport, so we can all tackle the climate crisis.

Melanie Shufflebotham is the co-founder and COO of Zapmap, the UK’s leading EV mapping app. Having worked in the space for over ten years, Melanie is an EV market expert, with deep knowledge of the charging market and EV data sets.
As co-founder she developed the Zapmap app, products and initial revenue streams. Now, as Zapmap scales ready for the mass take-up of electric cars, she continues to be focused on giving EV drivers confidence when they are about and about, aswell as supporting business and government with charging and data and insights to help them develop their electrified services.
Ben has founded and been a director of several payments and mobility companies including Masabi.com where he defined the standards for UK Rail barcode tickets and saves cities hundreds of millions while deploying digital fare collection around the world for cities like New York and LA, and also KerboCharge.com that enables those without driveways to safely charge their EV's on-street, saving 5x to 10x compared to the cost of public charging.
